Ballarat Open Studios

The Art of Making

Open Studios is a two-week exploration of the spaces, skills and techniques of artists, makers and ‘craftisans’ of Ballarat. This is a chance to observe makers at work, steal a glimpse inside their studios and learn a little more about little-known or highly recognised trades and crafts.

A joyous opportunity to get your hands dirty.
Running from 3rd - 13th April

Running from the 3-13th April 2020. Explore studios and workspaces uncovering everything from weaving, costume making, ceramics, leather and silver work.

This program will showcase
the process
of making…

Interrogating how space and place plays a role in creative design and production.

Join us as we discuss the power of craft and we celebrate Ballarat being recognised as a UNESCO Creative City of Craft and Folk Art. Take part in almost 30 workshops, exhibitions, masterclasses and panel discussions to debate the importance of craft in art, environmental sustainability right through to the politics of textiles.
